3ds battle/colab?
3d scene composition:
each player creates a new object.
objects are then e-mailed to each other.
objects are collected for final image renderings. (all objects put together to form one scene).
emphasis on modelling and composition...(textures and mapping not much of a concern)
feel free to post pics of items as you go...
the items:
JP-Coffee Table
gs-Pencil
jp-brandy glass (empty- i think he drank it all...)
gs-dolphin trophy
jp-butt-ugly couch
gs-fork
jp-yuppie & room
gs-speaker
jp- brandy in glass/entertainment center/tv
gs-lava lamp & picture frame (markp.com's avatar)
jp-breakfast!
gs-fishbowl & treadmaster
jp-fish

Hmmm. I'd take part as long as you can post something other than just .max. I can convert to/from just about any other format, but since I don't have Max, I can't use .max files. On the other hand, I *can* use .3ds files.
Whad'ya say?

sounds good...
what prog do you use out of curiosity?
how shall we go about textures etc...
i have to warn you, im not too skilled at the ol' 3d...
but i'll try my best not to disapoint...
-
mr producer
perhaps then we each model objects back and forth, and use them in each of our scenes within our own progs, and then do our own renderings along the way... at the end...
I'd prefer to model in max, and render with something else anyway...
I'll email you a nice little coffee table, and perhaps we can create a room etc...

Hmmm. Good point about textures. Hmm. I don't know what we could do about that.
What would you suggest?
My email is:

Sorry for the long delay

well, not too worried about textures...
lets get some items together first.
do you have photoshop?
might be interesting to try and texture/materialize the scenes later using only ps...
just a thought...

BTW, I just want to make sure I'm clear on what you're saying.
Are we going to email just the objects back and forth and arrange them at the end into seperate renderings? And as for textures, what would you suggest. I'm reading everything I can on texturing in Blender, but unfortunately, there's not much documentation on the subject. If you send textures as bmp/jpg/tga or something, I'll do my best with them, but I'm not sure what I can send you.
(Seriously, if, because of the texture prob, you would rather work with someone else, I'll completely understand. if I were in your shoes, I'd frustrate myself. If that made any sense, lol)

yeah that was kind of the idea... use the objects for a final scene...(each building/rendering our own "room"). I sent the "serve" over to you...
not worried too much about textures... I need to concentrate more on modelling anyhow...
man! textures and materials are like the fun part of 3d!
don't know anything about blender, but looks like the forum action for it is here:
http://www.elysiun.com/forum/
I'll send my image files along with the models, just in case you wanna play around with them...
lets just do it and not worry...
I'll post the object list at the top of the thread with more of an explaination...

Hey, sorry to leave you hanging, but I gotta go to bed in a few. I'll post again in the morning. This looks like it'll be fun!!
Yes BTW, I do have PS

cool me too..
maight be fun to attempt the final scene that way... model it all dry and use ps to fancy it up?
good exercise anyway...

Here's a quick render of the latest volley:
BTW, sorry for how long it's taking me. This has been a busy week. just started a new job 'n all.
EDIT: If anyone's paying attention, that's a dolphin trophy. Don't ask me why you'd need one, but it makes a great paperweight. My brother has one similar to the one I modelled
-
mr producer
lol... that's awesome!!!!
-
I'm somebody too!
Well, what would the world be like without Dolphin shaped paper-weight things? lol
BTW, I'm currently trying out a new rendering engine. Hopefully it'll make my stuff look 'cool'.
Awaiting your volley
