    Forums in Flash

    I was browsing the web at my work and stumbled onto a flash site, that had forums done completely in flash. I came home and could not find the site I know of flash being used as a frontend for asp, but full forums embedded in flash would be sweet. So my question is, does anyone have anyidea where to go about looking for this kind of forums, or if there is anyway to embedd html forums into a flash movie. I got my database, my asp doing the behind the scenes work, and flash doing the frontend, but it ticks me off that my viewers have to jump to a HTML file to use the forums.

    And im sure that its possible since I even right clicked on em to see if it was a flash SWF file or a html. To my suprize it was flash file.

    I am trying to get an answer to a very similar question, so I can't help you there (sorry).

    However, the site you are talking about is: PHP For Flash and here is the link for the board in question

    I made an itty bitty thread maker. It single thread only, with no login.

    Its very itty bitty, meant for the margin of a web page(for example on my site) , but I suppose it could be built upon. It uses an extremely thin php script, so i wouldn't recommend this build to anyone for use in a regular forum as it would be way to slow. IT is barely working!! I made it yesterday. I plan on killing all those find replace methods in the AS, and using cdata, so the AS is still funky as well. But it hould give you at least an idea of how you can bring in data, send data, etc.

    the php is simply:

    PHP Code:
    <?

        $datesend
    ereg_replace("[^A-Za-z0-9 ]"""$datesend);

    $datesend stripslashes($datesend);

    $filename "data.txt";

    $jp fopen$filename,"r");

    $OldData fread($jp80000);

    fclose$jp );

    $Input "<sn name='$name' message='$message'dater='$datesend'/>";

    $New "$Input$OldData";

    $jp fopen$filename,"w+");

    fwrite($jp$New80000);

    fclose$jp );

    ?>
    my site

    Nice....

    I am working on something similar... a blog built in Flash.

    http://www.mutemuse.com/mutemuse.html - current message system is being converted to something like this... - http://www.mutemuse.com/php_script_debug.html

    Both .swf make .load calls to .php files to a MySQL database, and load the content dynamically.
