I feel stupid asking this... but... (aliased fonts)
How do you force text to stay aliased in FlashMX?
I'm using a small pixelfont.. but no matter what I do.. it still comes out antiailased and you can barely read it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using the Info panel (Window > Panels > Info), change the text field's X and Y coordinates to whole integer values (for example, X: 102 and Y: 300). You will notice that the anti-aliasing no longer blurs the font.
View > Snap to pixels ( Make sure it's checked )

I'm trying the interger thing... and switching to a different font (hooge 5 57 at 10px) so.. we'll see if this works.

Problem is if you don't embed the font, then those who don't have it, won't see it. And embedding a pixelfont causes problems.

how does it create problems?
(btw.. I'm not really a complete newbie.. but I haven't used Flash in a while.. and this is my first project in MX).

?? I always thought that Static text was viewable by everyone, not embedding Dynamic text causes a problem

Got sort of mixed up here! Assumed text was dynamic. For everyone to see a dynamic text using a non regular font (assuming the user doesn't have that font installed), the font has to be embedded and embedding a pixel font causes problems.
This from minifonts.com:
Note: While these fonts work fine as static text, their use in Flash's dynamic text boxes requires them to be installed on the viewing computer or to be embedded.
Embedded fonts behave differently from those used in static text boxes and are unlikely to give the required results. When Flash embeds fonts, their sizes change ever so slightly. Although this doesn't matter much with anti-aliased fonts, which are blurred anyway, pixel fonts get shifted off the pixel grid of the screen. This is due to the accumulated errors caused by the small difference in the size of each character. The effect is that the text goes in and out of phase with the screen grid and goes from sharp to blurred and back again. Embedding pixel fonts in Flash movies is not recommended for this reason.
