color / blacknwhite transition of images

hi!

i want to create a navigation menu with images in flash. these images are blacknwhite. when i move the mousecursor over one of the images, i want this image to become colored. how can this be done? i think that i must create movie clips for each image, but how can i make the transition between blacknwhite and color?

well here is a quick and nasty way...
place the colour version on top of the BW one, but with alpha of zero...
then tween up the alpha...
voila, colour appears
