    Uni

Back to uni again... new Term started on Monday

    My first assignment is:
Your brief is to design a game or edutainment (I HATE THIS WORD!) using Directors Lingo programming features. Apply the following guidelines to the creation of the game or edutainment project:

It should be interactive and highly entertaining.
It should be easy to understand and navigate.
There should be various levels of challenge.
There should be atleast two levels.
    It should be fully working.
It should suit its intended audience.
It should start with a splash screen which gives the title of the game, author and a bit of blub (age range etc...).
Instructions should be brief and easy to understand.
So its really quite an open project... Because its so open, I'm finding it hard to settle on an idea and this whole edutainment word annoys the hell out of me!

So, what would you do? I was thinking of making a program for schools, maybe a walking with dinosors type thing... but that might be a bit boring

Hmmm I dunno... what would you do? Inspire me

I love their work but no one else seems to have heard of them when I bring it up, I think these guys consistently use flash more effectively than just about any other studio I've seen. I would have loved to have had stuff like this to study at school or even uni, but all we had was pong and elite for the BBC micro

here you have beautiful website after beautiful website. If it weren't for the crazy imagination of the guys at hi-res.net second story would be my number one pick.

have you thought about what you're going to do mark? I still say drinking game.

Very very nice place to work!

It'd be like working in a showroom

Just a side note really... After playing on the Hires site, www.massiveattack.com and the donniedarko site use some very similar effects (If I was paying for a site I'd want it 100% original)

do it all in flash, create a DHTML layer to go over the top that pops up an emulation of the shockwave menu when you right click. job done!

heck.. you could do it all in flash, import it into director and export, then your done!

(just remember to loop the frames in director.. otherwise the flash movie doesn't play)

i got into director with 8.. so there was some dot syntax.. I always thought the older syntax was so funny how it was just like english..

at least there's no curvy brackets or semi-colons to worry about.
