    SHOCKWAVE vs FLASH

    Hello my friends.
I am a KoolMoves fan forever, but ShockWave (with LINGO script) is too powerfull.
    few features:
    - DirectX,D3D and OpenGl support.
    - RealTime 3D render (with textures)
    - Transform & Lighting
    - Bump Mapping
    - FULL Flash enabled (you can import SWF files as members (objects) and controll them with LINGO)
Take a piece of power from here:
    http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/heretix.html
(it's just a small part from the main engine, 55KB only !!!)
    cheers

    for what you can see:
Director MX - for the main engine (LINGO)
    3D Studio Max 5 - for the world (W3D)
PhotoShop 7 - for textures (PNG)

for what you can't see right now:
KoolMoves 3.6 - for weapons (yes,I have "SWF" weapons !!!)
Flash MX - for the main panel

    cheers

Excellent work Remus - a very cool feature!

The seams between images can be seen while scanning, is that because you "slimmed down" the file as much as possible?

I always wondered what the difference was between Flash and Shockwave!

    Hellooo BOB.
    1) problem solved with UVW-Mapping & Tilling (don't check again because isn't updated yet).
    2) Huge differences between Flash and Shockwave (everything works different).
LINGO is powerfull, but very different from ActionScript (I have problems sometimes with that).
Now I'm working at the first monster (full 3D).
I can't predict the first "real" preview (however, you can check from time to time the "HERETIX" button from my new "SHOCK GAMES" section)
    Hard job ... eehhhh ...
cheers ... and don't let BOB H alone
I remain a KoolMoves fan no matter what !

    - Look Up & Down (locked to 30 degrees)
    - the first weapon: a shotgun
    - the first (and frendly ?) enemy: a red devil

    - KoolMoves control panel (!!!)
    - a lot of sounds and textures
only about 1500 polygons at this time.
    small file: 113KB

You can check at the end of this week.
    p.s.
I have a server crash now.I hope not for too long.

I'm using a beta version of W3D Exporter for 3DSmax5 (not available for download yet).
You have to contact someone from Macromedia's staff,or someone from BlueFX team.

Aha! Okay, then Ill wait for the final release for 3dsmax 5
dude... I really admire your skills. Ive just started to talk lingo and 3d...making a game engine as a school project.
Im guessing that youre using bones for the evil character. I havent worked the bones thing out jet.
Its a pain in the arse that the shockwave player is so big and messy to install.Thats the only thing that keeps me from wanting to make myself a site completly made in shockwave 3d.
So whats your opinion in collision detection? Collision modifyers, modelsUnderRay, or havok xtra? Did you use that add&remove-models-while-casting-ray-trick for your game? Well non of these things are meant to be talked aboutin this forum, but Im just so exited after discovering the lingo 3d world.

    Dear ShockWave lover,
    1) You can use 3DSmax4.2 (and W3D exporter for v4).
The beta version for V5 is really BUGGY !
    2) If you wanna animate meshes you have to use BONES (there's no other way to do it)
    3) about "collisions detection" ... a bad idea for games engines (the system computing power is overloaded with a lot of trash (unsignifiant collisions).
You have to use "distanceTo" to solve this problem better.
"ModelsUnderRay" is very important (check the new HERETIX release at the middle of this month for some advanced implementations).
    4) Havok team did a great job (I admire their work).
    p.s.
this is a Flash forum and we're talking about ShockWave.
Mail me if you need other details
    cheers

    Hellooo ActionMan,
At this time I have two "babes":
    1) KoolMoves (for online 2D purposes)
    2) Director MX (for online 3D purposes)
If the future Flash V7 comes with DirectX and D3D features (and BOB H is faster enough ... ha ha ha),my first "love" (KoolMoves) become "the love of my life" !
    p.s.
It's quite a hard job to build a 3D game (but you're clever enough to do it,I'm sure of that).

Necro, have you ever played Wolfenstien, the old version? If you have, you'll know what I'm talking about.

There is this "face" MC in the status bar. (Bottom.) Upon loosing, 10 health, the MC plays the next frame, which is a more damaged face? You kinda get what I'm saying right? Anyway, I thought that woul be a cool feature for your game.

Good luck with the dreaded AI.

    That's right !
As you can see,at this time our "hero" is immortal (except falling).
But soon as the enemies (and other traps) are able to kill him (or damage him),a face for our hero would be a nice feature.
This game wanna be a "mixture" between Doom,Heretic & Hexen (games from the golden era).
And because the control panel was made using KoolMoves,I think that BOB H is the right person for the hero's face (ha ha ha ...just a joke).
    cheers
