    Colours ? Colors ? Whaaa ??

Why is it I have a background in my swf that matches the background of my html

    #F1EFE2 for html and sfw...

BUT... one two machine i noticed it doesnt match... its like the sfw is pink and the html is normal...

    Flash 6 on all machines

    ok, i worded that funny

My swf background doesnt match the html background on SOME machines... its strange, I use the same hex number for both, and it looks fine on my home machine using netscape and ie, but not at work where the html back looks fine and the flash back looks kinda pink instead of tan

I'de use transparent background, but i have alot of alpha on dynamic text at high frame rates, and if i when i go to trans bg it slows WAY WAY WAY down

Is there anyway to not use alpha but get the same effect ?? like by changing colors ?? (I'm using ALL actionscript)

    Me too.

    I had this problem too.
You just put <PARAM NAME=wmode VALUE=transparent> into html, then the color will be the same

people can change their monitor settings... and the default settings arent always the same. it also depends on what type of monitor you have, number of colors the monitor can display (16bit, 24bit, 32bit whatever...), brightness, contrast, gamma... it's not always going to look the same.

I thought so too at first, but monitor settings doesnt make sense

see the flash lays right ontop the html

both have the same hex vlue for background color

they look seemless (same color) on my machines

but look different colors on two machines i've seen

If it were monitor differences then they would still be the same, just different from my screen color

16bit, 24bit, 32bit color and contrast settings make a difference. also the browser and version they're using may have an effect as well...

I just tried it in 16bit, 24, and 32... no difference

    Which is what i expected...

Why would flash on SOME machines display one hex value different ??

    I tried six machines now,

    4 ie6,
    1 ie5,
    1 nn4.

    thanks g_solo

I put this problem off till today, and ust read your post...

I think I'm going to go transparent bg. Although i do have a rather large info bar that trails the mouse _y, I'm not using _alpha at all so i dont think there will be any/much performance drop

Any one know about that ?

Unless I can find a color that looks like #F0EEE1 in 16bit like it does in 32bit... (#F0EEE1 in 16bit is like #F7EFE7... which is more pink then tan), it looks as if transparent is my only way out

    CRAP!!!

The html holding my swf scrolls I cant use transparent....
    (ie, REALLY tall swf)

CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP

Anyone know any nice mellow tan colors that look the same in 16bit as they do in 32bit ????

I ended up with #FBFAF7.... its not my first pick, but at least it look similar in 16bit and 32bit

I HATE PEOPLE THAT RUN 16 BIT!!!!
I HATE PEOPLE THAT RUN 800X600!!!!
I HATE PEOPLE THAT DONT HAVE THE FLASH 6 PLUGIN!!!!

    arrrrr!!!

...hhmmm.... according to thecounter.com, i hate 50% of everyone
