    Blur a Mask?

Is it possible to blur the edges of a mask so as to create a fade between images in a certain area?

    thanks,

if you're talking about photoshop...then yes. you can blur a mask.

all you need to do is click on the mask it self...not JUST the layer, but the maks OF that layer.

anyway, once you've got it selected, then you can go about blurring it...depending what you want, I'm assuming it'll be guassian blur.

    hope that helps

If you're wanting to mask over a solid color, you can do it, by creating a gradient that goes from your solid color to transparent. then move that over your object instead of using a mask.

I have an example of it here, when the mission Possible logo appears.

is that what your looking for?

again this wont work unless your over a solid color in the background so it matches.
Sometimes....when it comes over me..... And I totally lose control......... I Like it.

what i have is a picture of something. i want a mask over that picture to have "soft" edges, so that the edges fade into the picture. I then have objects that will be tweening in that mask, over the original picture.

Seems like you could just make the mask, and then stick a border on another layer over the mask. The border would use an opaque to transparent gradient. The picture, and anything moving in under the mask, would be subject to this border, as the border is over everything.
