    you must embed the textfield's font outline to use _alpha

    txtfield.embedFonts = true;
    or
    in the properties panel, click on Character..., select All characters

    Cheers.

    if you used embedFonts = true, you must put the font in your library..
    if this doesn't work, can you provide us with a sample .fla file?

    Kind Regards,
    Hamza.

    _root.createTextField("myTxt",1,0,0,100,20);
    _root.myTxt.text = "yeah";
    _root.myTxt._alpha = 0;

    when i add the embedFonts = true; the text disappears, not because of the alpha. i'm using all actionscript, by the way.

    in fact, the text disappears, because you hadn't put your font in the library. here are the steps to put your font in the library:

    1. open the library
    2. click on the top-right corner button, and choose "New Font..."
    3. write any text in the "Name" textfield, and choose the font you used in the listbox. Press OK.
    4. Right-click the symbol you just created, and choose Linkage.
    5. Check "Export for ActionScipt", and press OK.

    Cheers.
    Hamza.
