    loadmovie

    I am wanting to load a movie that contains a mp3 file converted to swf using swiftmp3,
    but when the movie loads it takes over the whole of my main movie screen.
    Is there a way I can limit the size of the loadmovie file with the sound in it to stop this happening.

    Thanks

    Any visuals in this loaded movie or is it just a holder for the sound?

    Loading in a holder clip, or on another level?

    No visuals only sound.

    If I load to another level the sound will not work.
    Could you please explain what a holder clip is ?

    Thanks

    If you're not loading on another level, then you must be loading in a holder movie clip, no?

    Or, are you loading on level 0, and that's what you ment by this loaded movie overtaking your main movie?

    What's your loading code?

    the code is

    on (release) {
    loadMovieNum("01.swf", 0);
    }

    if I try any other level than 0 then the music does not start to play.

    Level -1 opens a new flash window, but I would like for just the music to play and my main window stay visible.

    Thanks

    Yes, with this you're actually loading on level 0, thus replacing your main movie.
    I'm not too familiar with the swiftmp3 format, do you only have the .swf of this file or do you also have a .fla.

    In any case you can try creating a new movie clip, drag it off-stage, and give it an instance name like HolderMC, then use this to load your sound movie:

    _root.HolderMC.loadMovie("01.swf");

    But that doesn't mean the sound will work either.

    PS: change the name of that file to "one.swf", using numbers could get you in further troubles.

    The swiftmp3 file is only in swf format.

    Sorry, what do you mean by "drag it off-stage"

    Thanks

    You can drag the movie clip from the Library and set it on or off-stage, it's really not important since there are no visuals envolved.

    If I use the _root.HolderMC.loadMovie("01.swf"); statement
    then all that happens is the movie shuts down.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

    Attach your .fla. Or upload to your server (zipped up) and provide link to download from there.
