Xbox - Better graphics, but less of a choice for good games.
PS2 - Not as good graphics, but tons of games to choose from.

Each of them have their drawbacks:

The Xbox does not come with DVD support like the PS2 does, you have to pay $30 for an attachment that does. While the PS2 does not come with a built in hard drive like the Xbox does.

That's all I'm willing to say.

What do u call an XBOX with wheels and a handle?

...A lawnmower! (the fan is that powerful and noisy)

I don't like XBOX, never played one, never planning to.

i was reading some article in which author was saying that microsoft is buying many game software companies so the can produce more variety....plus....because microsoft can offer more money so many big companies like konami and electronic arts or namco can solve this problem....

i think their sucess will depend on online gaming when broadband will become common....
but i personaly want sony to beat Mricro$oft...

That's some sort of personal vendetta against M$?

I played the XBOX at a mate's house over Xmas, and thought it was pretty nice, I just thought the controller was clunky.

Of course, when he hooked up the steering wheel to play Colin McRae, that became a non-issue.

I'd still take the PS2, as the graphics are only a tiny bit less crisp and again, the range of games is huge. And the PS2 looks cool, where as the XBOX looks, well, clunky.

(That lack of DVD playback is a problem for the PS2, agreed, but was the DVD format that big when the machine hit the market? If you want to offer a 2nd-generation platform almost a year before your competitors, there's gonna be a price to pay somewhere).

You can offically run Linux on the PS2 with the full blessing of sony which will even sell you a kit and a distro for around $100.

Xbox you must do questionable things to it to run Linux, which may or may not get you into trouble depending on who you ask and what country you are in.

    Besides that;

    - More games on the PS2
    - Better looking design and better designed controlers.
    - Does not require an HD to run unlike the Xbox. If it crashes you must call MS to have it reset.
    - Built in DVD support- XBopx charges you more money.
    - Its not made by Microsoft. Although not a very good reason for some people it is reason enough...

Now I have played a PS2 - quite a lot, and I own an XBox.
Yeah you have to pay £19.99 for the DVD remote and adaptor, and yeah - It IS huge (but why does it have to be small? I have mine under the TV and thats where it stays!) The games are good on both, more choice on the PS2 atm, but thats as it has been out for a year longer.

XBox has XBL - well worth the 25 quid subs fee if you have broadband.
And In my opinion - the XBox wins hands down due to Ne game - HALO! Enough said!

But I find them both as good as each other, and TBPH i prefer the full size XBox controller to the PS2 ones!

I love my PS2. A lot of people like XBOX because of HALO and HALO alone. PS2 has tons of games similar to HALO. None of thm have quite as good of graphics but some are tons funner. I also can not stand the controllers on the XBOX.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

I own both... but honestly, I play more games on my PS2 than my XBOX.

XBOX Live just got awesome with the addition of Capcom vs. SNK 2 (online) and some other games, like Panzer Dragoon Orta, but PS2 has a back catalog of games like no other...

I'd go with PS2 if I were just buying now though.

    My 2 cents.

GBA, best darn platform there is right now.

Has the most games, Its cheaper, fits in your pocket, has the classic game reader for the classic game cards, games are cheap, and you can play them on your TV through your gamecube.

Plus you don't have to worry about it playing cds or dvds- Cmon now. It's not like DVD players are expensive (50 bucks for the Walmart or Radio Shack cheapo one) and like you don't have one or three already.

Now Im gonna get all retro
I still play my C=64 At times - at least when I can find the Power Box!
And I Have a Game Gear with Space Harrier thats played all the time.
And the MegaDrive is still one of my favourites, just slap in Columns or Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic 1 in the top (so I can play one special ball after another!) and Im happy
