how can I put a stand alone video player on a webpage

    Hello experts!!

I'm talking about those websites that have the video player built into the site. Is it better to import it into flash MX and then export it as a swf. Which file will be bigger.

    thanks

It depends on what video format you are talking about - do you want to have Flash video on your site? If so, your best bet is to use Sorenson or Flix to do the compression and then load your .swf movies with loadMovie() or loadMovieNum().

Many sites also use Windows Media (wmv), QuickTime (.mov) or Real (.rm) formats. They all use progressive download to simulate streaming (unless using a server technology) and have about the same file size and end dimensions at or near the same quality and data rates.

QuickTime is the best in my opinion, Flash is good for shorts and low action movies. Flash is also a good option when interactivity is required in the same page.

It all depends on your target and needs.
