transparant export
hello all...
got a little question and you'd do me a big favor...
i have made a little animation in 3d studio max, and i'd like to export it transparant, so i can use it on any bg_color in flash... is this possible within max or is there another way to do it?
thnx in advance

i assume you want to export it with a transparent background..why not render it out as a .png sequence? this will save the transparent background

that is indeed possible, but then i will have to edit every single frame of the animation...
i was more looking for an option within 3d studio.
otherwise it will cost me too much time.

look into purchasing swift 3d Max v2, this plugin lets you render an animation with a transparent background into a .swf file (and yes, the images inside the swf file are raster images, not vector)

Oh no,just export the thing as png, and it will do all the frames!!!
filename01.png
filename02.png
filename03.png
and so on...
then flash will ask you if you want to import the images and it will spread them along the frames. What is it you would need to edit for that?

in that case, if i export to .png are the backgrounds transparant allready?

yes as default they are, if you dont have set a background image as background in the environment settings.
There are 3 different png settings, optimized pallet that cant handle transparacy, and the other 2 where you check a box for alpha. Blahblah my english sucks.
My STRONGEST advice:
TEST. Export a single frame for testing the blasted thing. No matter how complex render effects u have made, it will take shorter time for a single frame to be rendered than it does for people to reply the question.
