    Gaussian blur in Flash MX?

Is there any way to do an effect like this yet in Flash?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kurt

nope, flash is a vector application, it doesn't do any manipulation of bitmaps.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought.

Any ideas for some short cuts to try and create a similar effect?

import two bitmaps, one clear and one blurred, then use an alpha tween to hide one and reveal the other, can be used quite effectively, play with the timing and see what you can do. There are a few sites out there that use it but I can't remember any off-hand! I'll see if I can shake my memory up.

I'm not sure what you are trying to blur, but try:

    modify
    shape > soften fill edges

if it is an image you've imported you may have to:

    modify
    break apart
