My story begins in nineteen-dickety-two.We had to say 'dickety' cause the kaiser had stolen our word for twenty.I chased the rascal to get it back but gave up after dickety-six miles.

hi glas
i used the flash deployment kit to detect the player version which should be flash 6 player.
when i check it on a different computer it checked the player and opened the webpage but the movie didn't load. I then installed flash 6 player from the macromedia site and it all worked fine??
the thing is that flash 6 player was already installed on the machine,
was it a more up-to-date version that I installed??
i'm afriad that people won't be able to view my site and won't hire me to build one for them...........i mean would you if the site wasn't there!?!
i just don't know

mbt -- just wrote a lengthy reply for you, but IE crashed -- nightmare, anyway,
to cut a long story short
If you're sending your site to other media companies, for potential employment, they will have the latest plugin.
If you're asking potential personal clients to check out your site, and have given them the direct web address etc, they will no doubt be paying attention to things like 'NEEDS THE LATEST PLUGIN' text on your front page.
People hitting your site from search engines, the majority will probably be on flash 5, so either publish for 5, or make it clear and easy for them to download the latest plugin.
back to your site ...
KEEP IT SIMPLE
let your work speak for itself. at present it looks a little cluttered, like you've tried to do everything at the same time. chill it out -- depends on what you want to do with it, but a nice simple, clean portfolio will come accross much smoother.
If you're trying out new skills/effects and dont have a specific commissioned project, make one up! a fashion studio, a property site, etc etc.
The effects on your portfolio look a little out of place eg. it looks like the dragable menu serves no purpose other than providing a 'cool effect', and will take a up file size.
smooth it out. the menu is jumpy when I move between buttons -- text jumps between 'menu unlock' and 'dress in drag'
these details will make a big difference to overall smoothness.
the menu buttons get a little lost with the horizontal boxes, little green boxes, drop shadows on the boxes, vertical box and shadow underneath etc... . again keep it simple,
I'd try and organise it better
eg
ABOUT (general info)
SERVICES (web design, cdrom etc)
PORTFOLIO (images, sites, animations)
and so on...
KEEP IT SIMPLE, let your work speak for itself.
hope some of this helps
