1: up top the images are grey scale (well almost) then 1 in colour... id keep to a theme mate.

2: the text over 'bonus' is hard to read... opac' the bonus out a little...

    3: loaded fast = good

4: the ace card is a little jagged

5: some of the type in the site is hard to read...

6: preloaded seems a bit of a let down to the rest of the site

other than that i really like it

Could you clarify what you mean with this one...

I'm not disagreeing, I just don't understand what you're saying. Could you perhaps say this in a differnt way?

    Thanks

    hiya.

    yeah sorry.
what i meant was that you have a very nice and detailed site, yet the preloader seems a bit of a let down... it a bit boring compared to everything else.

for instance up top and down bottom of the main screen are some nice pixel images and details.

but the preloader is just a % counter, the word loading and a fat bar moving across the page...

if you keep it the way it is i dont think it needs the word loading... it sits uncomfortably at the side there...

and maybe make that bar a little thinner?

im just pikcing at small details as i could find anything else that i didnt like about the site

    good work

    cool...

Love how clear the images are!

I agree with onionboy somewhat... the pre-loader ssems kind of simple for how well done everything else is. Other than that, good job. I like it.

Thank you for restating what you meant about the preloader Onionboy, much appreciated.

And to eveybody except nahouel, thank you for your constructive input and suggestions... They are much appreciated as well.

As for nahouel's responce: May I suggest that future responces in the "Site Check" forum are directed at the quality of the design and function, and not related to the content of the site, nor matter how objectionable you might find it? While my stance on the war in Iraq may be slightly different than your's, it is really immaterial for this forum. If you would like to discuss your feelings, opinions, and comments on the current conflit, there is a great Official Thread About The War here at Flashkit. Perhaps you should visit it! I would, however, be interested in hearing your critique of the above metioned attributes (IE: Design, Appearence, and Functionality) if you would like to respond to this in a constructive manner.

    Thanks agian to all others...

    Of course you are...

    Let me say it agian:

May I suggest that future responces in the "Site Check" forum are directed at the quality of the design and function, and not related to the content of the site, nor matter how objectionable you might find it? ... If you would like to discuss your feelings, opinions, and comments on the current conflit, there is a great Official Thread About The War here at Flashkit.

    DS

BTW: Free speech is a great thing isn't it? How do you think we got it? And how many Iraqi's have died becuase they didn't have it? Remember, up until a couple of weeks ago, there were thousands of 'pollitical disidents' imprisioned in Iraq because they didn't support the current regime, and spoke out agianst it. And by we, I mean the US, just in case there was any question. That's the last thing I'm going to say on the topic... I'll take my own advice and move to the Official Thread About The War if I want to talk about this anymore. I just couldn't let the hipocricy slide this time, though. I mean I mean my GOD....., come on.

    ethics

    dear collegue,
I might not be a good flashdesigner but I still think that other from graphics, usability, IE, etc... ethics should be also a descrimination criteria. We all know why the war was made, since Bush Senior, Junior, Condoleeza Rice and Rumsfeld all occupy relevant job positions in the major Oil Companies, and I agree that this is not the place to discuss...but let me tell you that I think you have lack of style, the site works perfect but the "stupid game" ruined all of your beautifull work. Where is the LUDIC COMPONENT on throwing bombs on a city? Remember that the smart bombs killed more civilians than military. Realistic indeed since when you aim in one place they never go in the place you want.... I just want you to reflect on the fact that also iraqi people that hate SADDAM have been killed under US bombs not to mention the press that was not embedded with the military.
    Pardon to all for my english that is not perfect;
but please consider ETHICS and politically correct as discriminants. I hope you find my critique usefull this time

I thought the design was gorgeous, there were wonderful contrasts between the initial image (like the meditation) and the propogandish content. Great work!!

The Game was great too, though I felt there should have been more to it, when I dropped all the bombs nothing happened??? couldn't reload or find Saddam or see how many innocent civilians I killed... or how many new terrorists I created... would love to see that

gotta love the Administration's / Media's choice to dehumanize people to the degree that they become a deck of cards. Absolutely brilliant work to turn a human being into a game, makes it much easier to kill them.

OK, where to begin here? So much to talk about... So little space

I guess I'll begin with Nahouel: I am not going to respond to oyur accusations or condemnations of any particular person, whether I agree, disagree, or even simply feel that you are misinformed. To me, your politics are neither here nor there; I am not trying to change your opinion, and you are not going to change mine. Period. So let's drop that whole line of conversation here... However, that doesn't mean that I have no responce to the comments that you recently posted.

I might not be a good flashdesigner but I still think that other from graphics, usability, IE, etc...
1.) I don't care how good of a designer you are or not. I didn't hire you to do work for me, so whether or not you are a good designer is really immaterial. I didn't ask how good of a designer you were, I asked what you thought of the work that I created as someone who obviously respects and appreciates the astetic properties of digital presentations or you wouldn't be here browsing these forums.

...We all know why the war was made, since Bush Senior, Junior, Condoleeza Rice and Rumsfeld all occupy relevant job positions in the major Oil Companies, and I agree that this is not the place to discuss... Where is the LUDIC COMPONENT on throwing bombs on a city? Remember that the smart bombs killed more civilians than military... I just want you to reflect on the fact that also iraqi people that hate SADDAM have been killed under US bombs not to mention the press that was not embedded with the military...
2.) Politics in the message agian; we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one or we're not going to get anywhere.

...when you aim in one place they never go in the place you want....
3.) Now that's design based and I actually have an answer for that one... Go figure. This game that is bothering you (and others) so much was just a little experiment from my standpoint and is based on throwing the bombs like they were projectiles and not just shooting them or droping them. From a technical standpoint I wanted to script something that was a little differnt and this seemed like a good idea. Little more realistic and all. Which, in the end, is what I think you were trying to say in between all of the anti-war rhetoric. Thank you.

...I think you have lack of style, the site works perfect but the "stupid game" ruined all of your beautifull work...
4.) Just insulting. Your English is good enough to understand that calling anything "stupid" is going to simply put your audience on the defensive and take a large chunk out of your credibility. Also, attacking the designer of something has the same effect; I'm going to give you the beinifit of the doubt and assume that you meant the site had a lack of style and that you didn't mean that as a personal affront. Either way, insulting someone is the fastest and surest way to end a conversation, discussion, or debate. Just FYI.

ethics should be also a descrimination criteria... but please consider ETHICS and politically correct as discriminants...
5.) Now finally, the most interesting, at least to me, portion of your post. I have to admit that I was somewhat surprised at this concept and it wasn't one that I had given much thought in the past. The idea that the ethical portion of a concept should be incorporated into something so alturistic as design is an interesting concept; one that I honestly havn't thought of in-depth before.

To me, design is a black and white concept. You put 1's and 0's on a page and create a visualy apealing piece. That is the technical portion of the design, and therefore of this topic. However, the end result of that visualization can be very very important; in all actuality it's not just a visulization of a message, it can effectivily turn into the delivery of that message, or in some instances it can even turn into the message itself. In those instances, I suppose that the ethical question is an important one.

And to be honest with you, in this instance I did attempt to remove as much of the political message from the content as entirely possible; in order to allow the end user to take the content in the manner that they wish to percieve it. I wasn't attempting to conduct a discussion on the topic or to present a particular viewpoint or message, but simply to provide information in a non-biased manner. The game that is causing so much trouble for you doesn't really fit that, and as such takes away from the design potential of the entire package. It presents a message where one should not have been; and thus allows the introduction of the concept of ethics into this site to be a viable one. In that instance, the concept of ethics may need to be taken into account; however, is a simple game that presents a slightly slanted viewpoint in a particular direction cause for such an emotional reaction?

And at the same time, if one is to conceed that ethics should be taken into consideration when creating, in essence, a message, how does one address the concept that therefore an anti-war message, where there is the possibility of changing ones opinion against what some consider to be a useful and benificial action, should have the same approach taken to it? From a purley intellectual standpoint, if we were to never make a message that everyone agrees with we would never make a message.

So yes, while ethics may apply to the design process, when is it approriate to label a design poor because of the ethical standpoint? If a designer creates an amazing site that features pornographic images, something which is much more accepted in some parts of the world than others is that site terribly designed or is it a great design, regardless of the content? If the ethical discussion is taken into account, than many designs will be limited in both scope and availability.

Now that I've gone on this long rant, I am interested in hearing what others have to say on this topic. Is the quality of the design based, even in a small amount, upon the content therein? Or is it a simply visual approach that should be jugded as nothing more than a beautiful mathmatical computation?

    Let's talk about it...

    DS

Sorry I didn't get to your post dedeburn... I did take a look at your site and have a few comments. I will write more latter!
