Being a Flash-Producer seems to be one of the coolest things on earth to me, but i don´t happen to meet many women in my job, so these questions came to my mind:

    -Are there any female Flash-Designers?

-Is "Flash-Producer" a cool thing to be?

-Do we get the attention we deserve?

    So what do you think?

    Red face Gender Equity

When I attended the Flash Forward 2000 conference in San Francisco I thought the gender balance was pretty well close to 50/50 at least in the attendees.

As to users on the board, I have no idea!!

Yes, I've been to alot of IT conferences and, if FF2K SF is anything to go by, Flash has a lot of females into it.

    Steve

PS Also makes for one of the better conferences I have ever been to

Hurray for all the rest of my fellow (?) females out there braving the multimedia industry. I just graduated from a multimedia based program in which there were only 2 females. I'm guessing there will be many more in years to follow.

hey i'm a female and a flash developer! i have to admit that it is sort of "boys club" though in this specific area. a lot of the work i see where i work is *so* masturbatory. it's just guys trying to see who can come up with a more complicated action script regardless of whether it makes sense to the information presented. but it's fun nevertheless. =)

No dissin going on here. Just pointing out the obvious. For some reason, there are as many women as men involved in the internet/design/development field. It's too bad, cause I've seen some amazing work produced by females. (Males too of course!)

    femenist flashers?! :¬)

I guess it is a bit of a "boys club" but only because there is a lack of females here! There is no sign on the club door saying keep out!

As for our work being "*so* masturbatory", what do you expect? Men have two heads, but only enough blood to run one at a time (Was it Robin Williams that said that).

Anyway, I think its cool to be a flash producer no matter what your gender is!

How old is everyone though? Pretty young I'd guess... but lets see!

I'll throw my hat into the age pool...26.

I'd wager the majority of flashers are young. It's still a young technology and most of the older web designers are sticking to DHTML and such...not a bad thing, that's just been my experience.

I'm 36 and I would say the vast majority of the players at FF2000 were in there late 20's early to mid 30's. I have 3 workmates who are all 50+ learing Flash. Just remember while Flash may be new, Multimedia is not. Before Future Splash was even thought of we had Director and Authorware and before Director there was MacroMind. If you look at Flash you see a lot of Director in it. As far as the gender deal I think its a 50 50 mix like Mark said. But I would dare to say that most of them are strictly design and not into the program end a things. If you look at the programing end of the indus. you will see a lot more men then women. I think it has to do with the way men and women are wired. Just my thoughts. Regards, Bill

    my 2 cents.

hello dear flashers (gender not matter)

http://www.flasher.ru - most known and most big russian flash recources site is ruled by woman (her also know as HACTEHA from http://www.legus.ru) and i think her have good knowledges in flash and whole design.

also on were-here board one of moderators are woman, so i think i near future females with new look on this world will be in this flash (and not only) industry equal as mans (i mean real 50/50)

sorry for poor english my native lang. is russian.

But seriously... what have you designed? Got any sites up? I'd like to see what you 11 year olds can do!

You'll probably produce some master piece and it'll make all us old people cry! :¬)

Looking forward to seeing some of your work,

    Smile Captain Oldie Speaks !

    Hi All,

Sadly at 34, I'm past my prime for some things but Flash isn't one of them !

I'd keep on Flashing but I fear something may fall off.

    L8tr,

    Evil.
