How do you make any money with Flashkit, Mark? Love the site but don't see the commercial angle.

    Advertisements, Advertisements & more Advertisements.

Don't see the commercial angle ??? Its staring you right in the face.

Anyways, I vote that we have more Female Flashers. Heh heh heh, especially on Sunday's when I don't have to go to work.

just kidding (well not really, it would be great but I guess thats just the testosterone talking)

internet.com bought the site, so they make money of the advertising. They supply the hardware and the bandwidth (otherwise a crippling 20 GIG a day on my Visa card)

In return I get a salary

Its less then what I got as a contract web designer, but I have to say its a tonne more fun!!!!

    Gender Equity

I am going to get some interviews of some gun design gals out there in internet land, so if you know any or are one, please let me know! Design is a great area where gender only helps the style, so I am looking forward to a greater balance! This is a new world system and economy, so hopefully it wont take on the "old boy" natures of a lot of old school systems

    Afternoon, folks.

First time posting here, so seeing as this looks like a "getting to know you" type-thang, I thought I'd share some details (I know you can't wait...)

I'm Kev. I'm 30, male and from the UK (the North East of it if you're really interested - you know, where the coal, good beer and top footballers come from).

One of my roles at work is to design and maintain our "corporate cyberpresence" ; ) (Sadly, I don't own the company, I'm a mere employee).

The site's undergoing extensive Flashing at present, so I won't give you the URL (I'll wait until I've had some NICE comments from people who still think Flash is some form of magic before I let "proper" people look at it).

Oh, and relating to the Flash/women situation, I know at least 2 women who use Flash. Doesn't sound a lot, but I only know 3 men who use it too (myself included).

    Cheers,

    Kev

I'll jump in the teen-wagon. I'm 18 and I've been into webdev since I was about 12 or 13. Started with HTML 2, I remember that. I got into Flash with Flash 2 also, but got confused with it and didn't play with it much until 4 came out. Now I just got back into it! I LOVE IT! Still working on actionscripting and other advanced things, but I love to impress all the other Web Dev's here who are about 2 or 3 times my age!

not the youngest, probobly started before all u though...

Im not the youngest one here but I'd be willing to bet that I started into HTML before most here. I started reading some of my Uncle's books on HTML at the tender age of 6, and I haven't stopped since...

    By the way I'm 15

    Assumptions..........!

Well like everything in life, I guess you can never really make assumptions!

I thought you peeps would all be blokes and all be in your mid 20s... but it looks like anyone, anywhere, any age can just pick up flash and start working. Great news for Macromedia! :¬)

    See all you kids/old-flashers around!

    got viagra?

OK, I guess I'm one of the community's senior citizens. I'm 39, male, from Connecticut USA. I started flashing 2 months ago. I didn't even own a computer until I was 34. Well, except for an old TRS-80 color computer with a cassette tape collection of stuff I wrote in BASIC back in high school.

I looked at some of 11-year-old :im's work. Now if y'all excuse me I'm gonna go soak my dentures and then make sushi of myself.

Don't worry Fishee, I remember the TRS-80 and Basic (guess some of our younger members may not even know what BASIC stands for!) and even 6502 machine code, poking hibyte/lowbyte directly into memory.... aaaaahhh those were the days

    Regards, Steve
