    Spaceship

I'm planing to do a Star Control -kind of melee arcade battle, so what do you think of my small spaceship?

I planned to render all of these ships in 36 different angles just to make sure there are enough angles.

very nice, what did you use to make it?

what size will the ship be in the game? wont you lose most of the detail? lets hope mr GIF wont spoil your ship too much!

look forward to seeing the finished game

well.... there is not much of a details, just the cockpit and rest of the ship. The size will be about 150x100 PNG-images, and I planned it look like sort of isometric (just like Star Controll 3).

Actually the ship never inted to be as big as it is now.

Tero - what kind of game is Star Control exactly? im guessing a spacey shooter.

im thinking of doing one of those for my next project, would be nice to use PNGs but dont they slow things down too much? would be good to hear from other people who have made this kind of game and from people who would like to see one - any features to add to the wish list??

I've been planning on creating a 'star control' type game for a while but couldn't remember the bloody name of the game. Cheers for the reminder and nice ship by the way!

Ok, I've done little codejust to look how these ships behave.
It looks like this. All I have to do is the more Ships, bullets gfx, AI for the computer ships and asteroid gfx. Last but not least, render those with anti-alias so those borders wouldn't be so sharp.

I placed the what-i've-programmed-so-far "game" here.

In future the map will, flip over when you fly to far from the enemy, so they will kind of fly in circle...

    player 1= arrow keys
    player 2= w,a,d keys

Seriously (and I am not trolling), what are you going to do to make it different from all the others? Do you have a backstory? Special weapons? It looks cool, but how are you going to sustain interest?

Nice images, I would have to agree with the previous post, there needs to be something like a main storyline or something else to than just ending up fighting head to head all the time. You could create something like the original starcon game, with a battle/system map, and engage battles when the 2 players go for the same planet, etc.

Is it possible to load MC only in to the memory?

Let's say I have one hundred different ship MC:s in my server and when both players select their ships, the main MC could start to load these ships in the memory.

When needed and loaded, I could use attachMovieClip to attach these ships in to the game MC.

or do I have to do it in the hard way using _visible=0 and other ways?...

That can be done I think. Load ship mc's into temp mc outside the stage then use duplicateMovieClip to place them in main mc.

Other thing is that loaded files are usually kept in local cache so when you load them again it happens much faster (not very sure if this works always).
