    Flashmx Masking (dynamic Text)

    hi all

    why isnt it possible to mask dynamic text in flash mx?
    when i use masks the text disappears completely and it doesnt work.

    need to know it asap. any tips? thanks a lot in advance

    to mask a dynamic text (or to rotate, change _alpha,...) you need to embed the font

    search the forums if you don't know how to do it

    i did that.
    but the problem is that the text gets antialiased instead of being rendered crisp as dynamic text (html-like)...

    ???

    unfortunately not every font can be embeded, as they won't be well displayed...

    that's one of the reasons why fonts for flash exist!
    www.fontsforflash.com (read the faq here)

    I suggest you try it with different fonts just to notice the different behaviours...

    so you wanna say it wont work with arial? which is a standard font at all...

    unfortunately yes...
    I think that when you embed the font flash keeps it's outlines and "forgets" which font it was
    only fonts whose outlines are correctly aproximated by flash work well
    so it doesn't matter if the user happens to have the font you used or not
