It's almost worthy enough to receive the Golden Web Award.

Where's the menu? What's with all the clicking for preloading?

Yes. That site is quite nice. Looks like they do more original stuff for their clients.

I think many freelancers and design companies are like that.

I think it's easier to do original work for clients as you have their branding and content to work with. Personal portfolio sites and company sites often only have other sites as their influence, me included.

Well that does it then, I'm never doing a personal portfolio site. Maybe just an order form that says "If you want Cos to do something flashy, enter your email here, and we'll talk".

Perhaps a designer should sit down with a marketing advisor or mentor, and ask them the best angle for promoting what the designer offers, and then build to those specs so you have a target to focus on that wasn't influenced by constantly hanging around the design community. That way you won't build "the latest thing", you'll build a good sales pitch. Even a frank role-play with a fellow designer could get you the perspective similar to a client.

Well you'll notice that designers are rarely inspired by content presentation and user interface layout, instead, they are inspired by design elements only. Because that's where creativity is the only aspect involved. Content management is an entirely separate issue. If only FK were to sponsor threads containing links to content rips.

you should ask in one of the help forums, you will get a responce there.

yea, some of it does have the "done before" feel. also, their WCog2005 site has some familiar transitions. But good work none the less.

I prefer the http://www.wcog2005.org/ site to their own. Feels like the love child of WhosWeStuidos and Flashlevel.

But as everyone else has been saying, you get influenced by everything else out there.

It's quite hard to make your own trend that is popular. Especially when there are so many people out their doing there thing with flash.
