Rich Internet Applications + Occasionally Connected Computing.

I’m hoping to build some Flash Applications for release with Macromedia Central late summer / early fall.

First, let me point you to more information about Macromedia Central, if you haven’t seen it already.

    Presentation:

    What it is:

    How it works:

    DevNet:

My only roadblock is not knowing where to start. Are there any programs out there already (Flash or otherwise) that would be a good candidate for Central; hopefully that could take advantage of the OCC/RIA framework? Or maybe there are some apps that need improvement. If you can point me in the direction of some Web Services I’d like to see if it’s plausible to consume them and integrate them into a Central app. I’d also like to integrate Flash Communication Server MX into some of the apps for live communication (voice, video, shared environments).

    Basically, I need some ideas.

    Thanks for your help.

i'm working on a process/project/knowledge management tool that could benefit somewhat from central.

essentially it tracks how many contractors/employees etc. are working on a project, what that project does and who it's for, while also integrating employee to employee communication with chat and threaded message boards.

pretty cool stuff, way too far along to rethink it utilizing central, but most of the end-users will have an always on connection anyway.

central - looks very much like what screenweaver can do...

The only applications I can think of are all quite complicated: email client, online banking, online phone bill reader etc.

Hmmm. How about a blog-interface of some kind? Or what a lot of people have done are RSS xml-feed readers, though usually the information you can get while offline isn't very informative.

Or a virus database? Telephone directory? Any sort of online shared database, recipes, football teams, etc. That might be more interesting because you would have content to use will offline and could go online for updates.

In my opinion, a project manager or any sort of team-organising tool wouldn't have very much offline use.

i'd beg to differ if the tool was to be deployed on non-wired PDA's and cell phones.

Yes, you are right - that would make a big difference. Just out of interest: can Central run on those platforms?

It runs on both desktops and Macromedia Flash Player enabled mobile devices using the technology of the Macromedia Flash Player 6.
