    Best Format to Import Images?

I think this would be considered a newbie question. Does it matter what format I import images into Flash's library? If the file is already a jpeg, does it loose more quality when the swf is created? Or is a non-lossy format such a tif better?

If I import a file that is larger in size and resolution than I need, then scale it down onstage, do I take a hit in the file size of the final swf?

    Thanks!

Use only 72 dpi images. And save at the size they will have in Flash.
I dont import, I just copy from Photoshop and paste into Flash. If importing, save as the best quality you can first. Many prefer png ( on Macs they get a little brighter when imported ). I use pict format ( I only use it because it supports alpha channels ( so does png-24 )).

I prefer png personally. Keeps perfect transparency and has good quality. The size sometimes gets pretty big but other than that I like the results.
