very early, but feedback wud be nice...

    http://www.geocities.com/jamiehunterdesignportfolio/

this is the first build of my website up to now. ive got all the basic layout and graphics and i was just wonderin what you think. i do have some things to say tho:

    1. so very sorry about it being on geocities hosted.
    2. no preloader yet, so bare with it while loading
    3. no sounds yet (so try and do ur own sound FX, oral or other)
    4. again, so so very sorry about the geocitiesness
    5. no enter page yet

with my site i was tryin to bring some origionality to the flash scene, is it origional or boring or a (enter site name here) wannabe? tell me everything....
    cheers

It's actually nicely done. Layout and style is great.
My only suggestion is to center the whole movie vertically
in a table. It'll add a little more to the look.

    You're too good for geocities.
Hosting is pretty cheap these days.
Ask around and check some out.

I can sort you out with webhosting at cost price for £70 for 2 years... It is my own server in Docklands (LONDON UK) 30 floors underground, bomb proof generators good for 18 months, 14.4Gb per second bandwidth and a 'host' of other features and benefits...

Anyway, enough self promotion eh j_hunter182...

    i am getting forbidden error....

    style

I think you have a few conflicting styles going on. It looks good at the mo, but you seem to have like a dark/goth feel/ then symbol grahic look (men in lift) and then like a futuristic pill/testube thing.
If I were you i'd lose the men in the lift graphics, ruff up the border abit, sort out the block font for the nav, dosent go. Make it like the scribble type.

'pages r ere' seems abit naf and not needed.

but i think its got some good potential and a nice original look.

if your just testing dont worrie about the geocities, I dont care just aslong as it works and you view it thats what counts.

I like it a lot. The only thing I'm not sure about is the font for the title/logo - looks a bit 'my first pixel font', maybe?

    Otherwise great

ive just uploaded a newer version of my site but without the changes you have suggested, ill get to work on them soon. these are the kinda posts i wanted, thanks a lot. ther are just a few things i want you guys to check on the newer version:

    1. is the border ok or should i make it look haggard?
    2. the liquid effect on the testubes, took me a fare amount of time to do so i hope its worth it

the preloader at the mo is very simple and im gunna change it. i just wanted to make sure i got one in with the right code and stuff then i can tart it up a bit. u rite about the logo aswell, ill work on that, i just didnt want that to be the vocal point of the site.
cheers and ill think about wot uve all said

I am feeling the design work. I am a huge fan, of the type of design you work with, esp. the bipmap's mixed with flash to give them moving effects, ect. I like the abstractness as you are portraying your portfolio, looks smooth. Keep up the work, if your only 16, you'll be the guru...in a few more years...

    good luck..

nice, i think the contrast between the black and white sections is rather irritating but it's maybe just me though. I like your style, can't wait to see it finished.

living up to my end of the bargain

    Hi
Thanks for reviewing my site..fps is at 18, what do you suggest?

    Liked the splash..the tunnel/walkway animation..the wavy transition....the school drawing style nav..cool.

Hated the bandages in the corner..much more pro without..neat style/shape interface.
    Need more content.
stated "done but with errors on page" if this was interntional..cool i like...if not sure you'll fix it.

    All the best
    Lee.

thanks for all the comments. i would suggest 25+ for FPS (mine is 30)... the "Done but errors on page" isnt me, its geocities. if you use flash on a site hosted on geocities it doesnt display ther advert at the top of ur site so it gives an error, stupid really because i dont get any errors when i preview it from dreamweaver. i like the way you think it might have been intentional, this shows youve got a logical design mind and i think its a good idea (others mite just see it as poor scripting tho). rlLife, what do you mean by make it faster? should i make everything appear at 1nce or just change the time it appears?
    cheers 4 n e more folks

what i was talking about was the frames per second. just takes a long time for the page to build itself. dont change the order, i think that is cool how each thing comes in at a different time.

yeah its good, i like it, but i still had to scroll on 1028x768 res.
Also the tape around the edges looks a little too computer done., but scuff em up a bit, and have them not so semetrical

Ill tinker wiv the FPS and see what effect it has. the only bad thing wiv that tho is it will change the speed of all my animations (tubes, logo etc.) and i didnt really want to do this. i'll av a go n see wot i can come up wiv.
the border i have up now was just so i can get a general style and see what it would look like. im workin on it now... i was tryin to get a masking tape effect on the tape but i failed miserably
    neva mind
    cheers
