Studio MX... to buy or not to buy?

    ok

i'm looking for outside input here

i currently have flash mx and freehand 10 (MAC of course)

but i was reading up on Studio MX... now here is the stupid question...

does Studio MX include FULL versions of all that software? so you get Flash mx , freehand mx, dreamweaver mx, fireworks mx, coldfusion mx, contribute, and the devnet resource kit all for only $900?

or are properties from these programs compilied into one and that's Studio MX?

    any takes on this?
    thanks

Correct… full versions all can be installed separately, one serial number tho. The exception is ColdFusion; you get the Developer Edition (access from one ip).

Its full versions of all the programs, you can install/uninstall them all seperately. Studio MX is just the name of the package the programs come in.

As for buying or not, decide if you need the other programs enough to buy them when you already have Flash and Freehand. Would you use Dreamweaver, Fireworks etc enough to make it worth $900? Maybe just buying 1 of these programs would be better, if you don't think you'd use others. Download the trial versions from Macromedia if you need to see if the programs could be useful to you.

If you use more than one of there (which you do, flash and freehand) upgrade! Well Freehand is only $99. If you do any type of web work you need dreamweaver. It's only $399 now (upgrade - 100 'til july) not $899.

well i think im going to need them

i have found myself in the seated position of this new companies Media department

which means im responsible for all Promo work (website, cd portfolios, mailers, interactive videos...) on top of the traditional graphic design such as (logos, letterhead, annual reports...)

and i have lead on the client pieces which is Training software including test and quizes that need to be recorded and stored in databases

im a wiz at freehand and photoshop (cause of 3 years in the design bus) but i've only working in Flash MX for a year and havent touched Dreamweaver or Fireworks or cold fusion

but from what i read... Cold Fusion can only help Flash MX... am i correct?

flash mx = web & interactive training
    so dreamweaver = web
    fireworks = web & ?
    cold fusion = ?

    is that correct?

My university just got through with a licensing agreement with Macromedia. I bought Studio MX for the low, low price of $100. If you're in college, I would suggest checking with the bookstore.

note: you can not make a profit with the student version of the Macromedia software via the agreement.

have fun with cold fusion on your mac.

    http://www.macromedia.com/software/s...tudio_mac.html

it doesn't come with the studio.

or you could buy a new G5 next week and get studio for only 400 bones.
