    diagonla fill/pattern

    Hi gang-

    I cant seem to find the tut on how to make a diagonal fill/pattern

    like I have a long rectangele (h:500 w:100) and I want to fill it wil the fill bucket (pattern) so it fills in with horizontial "lines". say about 15 pixels thick each. Anyone help out..or better yet a link to a tut?..Thanks

    Thanks for the tips... I posted incorrectly...I was asking about doing this is PHOTOSHOP. Sorry... I know how do this is flash. I was asking how to define or make a pattern that will fill with diagonal lines. I know I remember reading a tut on this at Phong or thewebmachine or someplace..but I cant seem to find it again.

    Thanks
    and sorry for the confusion.

    It's pretty easy to do. To get a pattern with horizontal lines 15 pixels thick and spaced 15 pixels apart. Just make a new image 30 pixels high (width isn't important since it's going to be horizontal lines) and with a transparent background. Fill in the top half of the image with your line color and leave the bottom half transparent. Select all and then go to edit > define pattern. That's all the there is to it. Of course you could edit the height of the filled part or the height of the transparent part to alter the line thickness or space between respectively.
    Anyway hope this helps,

    Thanks..but Im looking to learn how to make diagonal lines..not "scan line" type of effect.

    I remember reading a tut somewhere..and for the life of me I cant remember how it was made. They filled in a corner wiath a color...and when defined as a pattern..and used as a fill..it made a diagonal fill.

    Why not make horisontal lines and rotate it 45 degrees.

    Is this what ur looking for ?? Attachment that is. Save it and then create a new html doc and change this:

    Code:
    <BODY bgcolor="#ffffff">
    To this:

    Code:
    <BODY bgcolor="#ffffff" background="tile.gif">
    and just making sure the tile is in the same dir as the html file.

    If thats what u want then u can just open the tile.gif in photoshop to see how it was done and change the colors as u see fit.
