with MX being a new release and the adoption rate finally seeing good numbers, I foresee updates coming out first... not a new release yet.
then again, Macromedia isn't exactly listening to their customers too keenly lately. so who knows...

i don't know. Remember english is my second language
I mean, just like microsoft, they can do whatever they want without asking what people need.
Macromedia is being good to us, and in the past they've had nice relatioonships with opensource projects, but i think that's not how it works nowadays, right? at least not that much

I said becoming as if it were the wrong tense of the word... they have become (became) more like Microsoft than I'd honestly feel comfortable with.
Not correcting your English.

This is at least the 4th time this week I've seen that in our posts.
You're really bitter about the way 6 handles XML aren't you?

more like I'm just sitting back and looking at how they went from a company that seemingly cared about the customer to now one that cares about their bottom line.
which is actually good, because I own stock in them...
-
what [xml] stuff could they be doing different / better?
-

less server stuff. they're coming out with yet another server product via "royale", right? Better xml/xslt and xforms integration. forget ignorewhitespace. and the ability to populate with xml with CDATA information a bit better as well.
there are some others, but I'm overly not happy with the workflow of flash in itself either.
but that's not my point of aggravation.
I guess with the DRK's and Firefly Suite's that cost as much as the program, it seems like Macromedia seems to be happy with dividing their userbase even moreso.
And above all... Macromedia does not seem to take care of the people that used to evangelize for them. A lot of those people aren't as "taken care of"... and some that are "taken care of"... well, shouldn't.
But, hey... it's good for business. I got 9.00+ profit per share I own of MACR.
Keep up the good work Macromedia.

Darn it; the board froze up while I was submitting my reply. Oh well. I don't feel like retyping.
I agree; a lot of these for-cost addons are a bit annoying. But they have their little niche. And the server products are getting a bit too much; again though, they have a niche and Macromedia is trying to create something new. Hopefully after [in] the next releases they'll focus more on the existing products and less on the innovations.

I have to disagree for no other reason than I think they (MACR) feels as if this server release stuff will keep them afloat with the shareholder perception that it's "innovation" and expanding themselves as a "brand" and "platform"...
yeah, right.
MX fixed nothing from 5.0 other than a faster XML parser, deprecated some tags/AS, better video and some detachable palettes... wow.
Seriously though... the new products upcoming... they'll (MACR) give the products to the new evangelists slightly ahead of the rest of the users, which is not an unusual thing, and then they'll become the new evangelist for Macromedia.
-
Yea; maybe innovations wasn't the right word. But they've got to throw out some stuff to see if it clicks. Instead of just doing the same old same old... of course they should be concentrating on the current software; but there doesn't seem to be any sort of global outcry for improvements / features (that I've seen at least) so they have to make stuff up. speaking very loosely of course
