Damn it, I want to get one too - but I think I will buy a G4 when the prices plummet. Just waiting for my opportunity. If anyone sees any crazy deals on the Dual 1.42, PLEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeease PM me.

    Thanks!

Macmall just emailed me, the prices are falling, not super low yet. The more i look at the G5 the more i say... WHAT THE HELL. It looks so plain, odd, flat, dull. There's no cool factor, it's looks like a well folded piece of metal, with clean cut edges. This whole brushed metal theme is going too damn far. This will be my first case mod, I rather have it all black or something, match it to my office or whatever.

definitely get the 1.8 g5...with the audio stuff, let alone that ridiculous system bus, it's really worth the extra change and the wait...

Does anyone else think it's kinda lame that it only holds 2 internal hard drives? Seems like they slimmed down the case a bit.

I'd still give a leg for one.

It can hold half a Terabyte.
    I think that's plenty.

    Sure it's plenty...you're right.

I just liked the idea that my current G4 had enough space to make an internal home-made raid array, backup system drive, and system drive...all inside. But with firewire and all...no biggy.

true. I agree. I also don't like the fact I'm limited to one internal optical drive either. but... the advent of firewire raid and storage - which I already have a firewire HD and burner already - doesn't really bother me.

what about the 64-bit architecture? I read somewhere that software will need a 'simple' recompile to operate with the new G5 chips. Is this true - or am I more confused then normal.

I've heard that older software will play just fine, without much trouble.
