Well, it could be used to make a first-person shooter with no walls. :/

If you want a proper Wolfenstein-style FPS in Flash, it has been done. André Michelle has some very good raycasting and 3D experiments in his lab.

The collision you'd do in 2D, no point making it more complex than it needs to be. The trees would be placed using trigonometry (a bit vague, sorry), and rotated by figuring out the angle between the player's field of vision and the tree (although that might be wrong) using Math.atan2(), and telling the tree to gotoAndStop() on a certain frame (the trees would be movie clips exported from Swift3D or some other rendering program, and you would export them in many angles).

I'd go into more detail, but it's not something I've ever tried, and the answers are on Google somewhere, if not Flash Kit (otherwise how would I have known what to tell you?). I definitely recall there being something about figuring out the angle for the object to face in luxregina's topic about mode7 3D (used World of Warcraft sprites for the artwork). You should be able to find it with a forum search. Try 'luxregina tree angle WoW' or something. Won't help you with collisions, though. For that, you'll want to look into Tonypa's vector tutorials (http://tonypa.pri.ee)

A humorous reply is always worth ten useful ones in my book.

In any case, if my memory serves me correctly, you might find something useful in the topic that luxregina linked to:

    http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=626076

Specifically, check any links posted in the topic. Might be wrong about this, but I think I remember someone asking how it was done, and being given a tutorial on it.

Did you mean that? I'm going to check it. I'll be back if it didn't help!

11 days after the thread had left the list again, you post to tell us that the thread is long.

How is that not a bump?
