Hey, everyone. I'm having an overwhelming desire to raid my local bookstore for C++ learning/reference materials. Any one have good titles for a relative C++ newb that I should check out?

I've searched the web for as many tuts and such as I can find, but as I can only browse them during the work day, it kind of cuts into my study time later. But, as always, any good links are mightily appreciated.

Thanks, guys. I think I've gone through the notebook once or twice in the store before...

Should've also mentioned I'm a cheap sun-gun. Isn't the bible almost $50 US?

Most programming books are atleast $40. The ones worth buying anyway. It'll all be worth it in the end.


But I guess that really depends on WHY you want to learn to program

perhaps u can buy the books u want on amazon.com on used books, that's how i get my books, and their usually much cheaper and in good or even great condition.

I've always been happy with the Wrox books. Not the most succinct or thrilling reads, but pretty thorough, and not too hard to follow.

The Wrox books are all solid red with pictures of the authors (usually very dapper looking gentlemen) on the cover. I think the one I got for intermediate C++ was writton by Ivor Horton.

Also, I liked the Data Structures book my university went with when I took that class, one of the few school books I actually kept. It was this one.
