    You can

I know for sure that you can, I saw a '3 video mobile' advert on the liverpool football club website. It was a borderless flash advert that was displayed over the top of the html and was able to move around the screen.

I thought that flash swfs 'pushed' the other stuff out of the way when placed on the page, but obviously not.

    But it is possible.

I think what you're looking for is a DIV layer. You can create a DIV layer in HTML, assign a transparent background to it, and layer its position over a regular HTML page. You'll only be able to move the Flash movie within the IE window, but it can have a transparent background (like a lot of those Flash ads you see out there.) http://www.devguru.com might be able to help you out with this.

If you're looking to create an entire window with a transparent background, you'll have to look into a standalone projector. http://www.multidmedia.com Flash Studio pro can use a transparent background.

As far as a web-based transparent window goes, I think you can only do this over an existing web page, not a transparent window (ie: you can see the desktop behind it...)

    Hope this helps a little.

... gimme just one more line of code to ease the pain.
