FTP - Failed to establish data socket...

Does anyone have any experience with this error. I am trying to upload files using CuteFTP and my connection keeps breaking and displaying the message "Failed to establish data socket." Happens every few files. As you can imagine, this is a real pain when trying to upload hundreds of files to a web server. Anyone? Thanks.

can you connect via a command line FTP session (Start > Run > CMD > FTP > open > (ftp.site.com) > (username/password when prompted)?

And are you sure you have access in and out on port 21 - I'm assuming this is standard FTP.

Make sure your client is set to port 21. For some reason, I had some FTP client that kept going to port 25.
