I am doing a redesign (not major) and recategorising and reoptimising of this site for a client: http://www.llamaleisure.com.au

I have no idea what to quote, basically I would quote it hour by hour but she is dead set on getting a ballpark figure, thing is I'm not sure how long it will take, I just know it will take a while as you can see there is alot of info there.

basically I need to re-optimise all the images, sort all the information on the right into broader headings which then have links to sub-categories e.g. now it is

"kangaroos
birds"

I need it to be

"Animals-->kangaroos/birds"

if that makes sense...
Anyway I need to do that to all of her sections + redesign it to make it more pretty in the process. I'm not sure, maybe around $400? Let me know what you think (this is AUD btw)

As your link is dead, bvgroote, you'll have to tell us how many of these changes you'll have to make. Certainly an important part of 'what price' in this case.

I hope you're not planning on making these headers jpgs or gifs? That'd be a nightmare to update, doing all those by hand.

Dunno about the price - I guess I'd go hourly, as it's pretty basic html.

Sounds like about a full days work to me, provided they're happy with an easy to implement redesign. If I was doing it I'd probably charge £500 - £600 (but let myself be knocked down to maybe £400 if they were stubborn or if they were willing to let me get on with it).

Personally, I quite liked the simplicity of the site as it is. It's easy to navigate and easy to read - I reckon you just need to standardise the text sizes (one for heading, one for body text), spruce up the images, make the headings into images in a classy font, add a graphical logo, perhaps, and make the menu nicer and it'll look really simple and elegant.

No, that was not sarcasm. That was me saying that you will not have to wark too hard to improve the site.

Figure out what you plan to do, estimate how many hours, then give a price based on that.

Or just get her to pay you in Llamas, you could get 1 or 2 and then sell your car.
