    paintball guns?

Ive just recently got hooked on paint ball guns and am looking to buy one.....except I have NO idea which are good, which are bad, which put you in the "cool" crowd, etc....can anybody help me out?

I'd probably just use it to go sniping around the woods in my backyard.

    Thanks for your help!

    Go with a singray

Actually, what you want is a Tippman. Top gun, it is. Lots of variety, too.

I forget they're website, but Tippman means quality.

I've never played paintball but I've always wanted to.
Does it really hurt when you get pelted?

I played once and managed to get nailed on the tip of my finger as it was resting against the barrel. THAT hurt.

I got a tippman pro-lite a few years ago, my brother got a tippman carbine. Both were great, reasonably priced guns; very reliable. There are a couple other flashy choices you could go with (autococker comes to mind), but for your first gun, I would recomment a Tippman.

Oh yah, and be warned, it can be an expensive hobby :/.

They call the guns "markers" by the way .

Yes, if you don't get a tippmann, the next one I would recommend is a spyder. That is what I have.

a little known gun is the core sharc which is comparable to the spyder shutter in performance but surpasses the shutter in quality.(low maintenance) the sharc is probably more accurate out of the box than any tippman, but tippman guns are made of out stamped iron and are all metal and you could pretty much run over one with a car and not hurt it. there are more upgrades available for the model 98 then most other guns too, and if you put a lot of money into your m98 it can become a really great gun. my advice is to go to pbreview.com tho

i have heard bad things about spyders, like there are a lot of them that come out of the factory with defects, and that the quality of the gun is just crappy, but i guess its just the unlucky ppl who get the factory defects :/ *shrug*

i have seen people who love theier spyders and people who have had their sypders crap out on them in-game so its a toss up. if i were you and i had $200-$300 i would buy an automag though. if you are tight on cash go for a sharc off ebay, i got mine brand new for $100 same with model 98's

I used to play on a team a little bit ago, if your just starting out, and just want to use it for fun in your woods, or maybe for shooting a few friends , I would recomend
a Spyder Xtra it's cheap, but a pretty decent gun.

I was nailed in the neck once, it didnt hurt as much as the 3 paintballs that nailed me in the hand from less than 3m away. Suffice it to say, my hand was really sore for a week.

The last time I played paintball, I got nailed on my trigger finger at close range. I had been leaning up against a log, and there were little splinters of wood on my finger when it hit. They of course broke the skin open and I bled profusely. My entire hand was numb for like 20 minutes. Good times, good times.

worst paintball thing I ever saw was a guy get hit right in the eye from like 15 feet, it was an accident too, so he wasn't expecting it. Like half his face was black and blue and he couldn't open his eye

You dont want a Brass Eagle those are the worst you can get. Go with a spyder those are good starters.
