    Yup, you have to be on it 24/7 to get any real work out of it... you also work for peanuts...

    but if you are on the site 24/7, how can you do any work for people?

    I considered Elance but not many people recormend it. But i don't know how that's justifiable when you look at the profiles in elance there making thousands in some cases. Charging a couple of hundred for a logo shiit i could have done that logo.

    They're not charging a couple of hundred for logos etc, they're chargin (in many cases) a couple of hundred for ecommerce sites and content management etc.

    Elance is pretty cack, you can make money on it but it's difficult to make any real money without accepting massive jobs for a couple of hundred dollars.

    I'd suggest joining up if you've got a big "code bank" of your previous work available. By this I mean you've got lots of pre-built templates and bits of scripts which you can edit and reuse quickly otherwise it's not an efficient use of your time and effort.

    I've seen people bidding (and winning) jobs for full ecommerce sites for less than $500 so they're obviously reusing templates and these are the people making the money.

    Check out the elance threads in the boardroom, I posted a great deal of information and thoughts on a while ago (I'm a member of elance) so hopefully it'll answer your questions.

    Elance Sucks! Luckly I made my $500 back on the only job I recieved. Never again will I use a gay service like that.
