    A controller for a webpage

    Hi guys , TY for past help on my e-photo album. I am in middle of new project here and well im not sure if this is rite place i can post this question but i have used several Flash MX forum and not been able to get any help , My project that i am working on, well i created an what we will call my TV Remote, It is a 4 button with window on top of those buttons to display button name ( if u would like to see it i posted it here http://www.stitches2remember.com/cbul7210.htm , It is at bottom of page) well i need this object to stay together and be able to be moved around page using the OnDrag command, I have tried creating it as a symbol but i loose adjustability and cannot set the buttons to display proper portion of the page , i found same thing if i was to create it and use it as part of a Loadmovie command , i also have tried to just copy and paste the frames and group them but some reason it looses the buttons ability to dispay in its window, any clue on how i can go about creating this object to do what i am looking for ? also any comments on my artwork on site i mentoned above is also appricated Cbul7210

    Hi,

    I've just completed a search with your user name.
    I see no posts about MX OnDrag capabilites.

    The Swish Help forum deals with swish related information.
    On Drag is not a feature that is possible with swish.

    As you state that it's an mx issue.
    It may be helpful to include an .fla
    which demonstrate your particular concern.

    I have every confidence in the MX forum that they
    may be able to help you.

    Moved from Swish Help

    Attach a copy or stripped down version of the FLA to a post. If I get to it first, I'll fix it for ya.

    You mean from the remote, to specific frames of your main timeline?

    Add unique frame labels on those targeted frames on your main timeline. No number only labels or at least not starting off with numbers. Something like "my_target1" and so fourth.

    Then add an on press or on release action on your remote buttons, add _root to your path, and target your labeled frames...

    on(release){
    _root.gotoAndStop("my_target1");
    }

    yes that is what i was wanting to do there on linking the remote to specific frames of the main timeline?
    i tried using the frame label but that still doesnt work and i am thinking somehow its not finding the right path to go as when i go into Action properites and have it set like this
    on (press) {
    gotoAndPlay("Main", "_root.home");
    }
    and i click the Tartget path button , there is no mention of the Frame labels that i set in there and i checked it both ways , using reletive and Absolute path
    how i created that remote was i did that object on a new flash doc and then copied the finished symbol to the main stage that contains all the rest of stuff. and as i have said in earler post i did post the FLA file if u wanted to see what i was trying to do there,

    I did describe exactly what you had to do in my above post!

    You have to add _root and only target your labeled frame...

    on (press) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay("frame_label");
    }

    No scene names, only the targeted labeled frame, and the frame label between double quotes.

    my mistake , i guess i forgot to mention my previous post that i did try using
    on (press) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay(face);
    }
    and the button still doesnt link to main time line where it needs to go

    Did you try putting "face" in quotes and double-check to make sure you labeled a frame "face" in the root timeline:

    code:

    on (press) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay("face");
    }

    Hope this helps.
