    msblast used anyone infected as a resource to ping windowsupdate.com. Its called a DOS (denial of service) attack. Microsoft took the server down because of this attack.

    Its a good move concidering the alternative was to let the worm take it offline which would be embarrasing (like in the past). Hence the worm took it down.

    msblast didn't have anything to do with the dos attack on thursday... they took it down as a preventative measure for future attacks.

    They killed the address to prevent it from being attacked, but WindowsUpdate is still alive and well. Well it's alive. So I would say MS won but the worm got some good punches in.

    Nah. I don't think any Mac user ever expects IE to work properly.

    Of course, we're all absolutely devistated that they won't be making any more.

    (But seriously, it could have something to do with my security settings. When I looked into the code there were some pretty explicit instructions on how to get it working. Tho it's pretty much a non-issue for this machine anyways.)
