    silly .EPS question...

Are all eps formats in vector form?

ie can a bitmap be saved as an eps file?

Only reason I ask, is a client has sent me a load of eps files with the intention that i can open them up in vector form and then simply import the shapes into Flash.

Problem is when I open up these eps files, in Fireworks, all i get is one big bitmap. Trying to work out if the client has exported them wrong or is Fireworks the complete wrong tool to use for this?

If I try and open them up in Freehand, all i get is a white rectangle with a big cross running across it, if I try and export this as a swf it just produces a perfectly blank file...USELESS!

I don't have Illustrator so can't open them up in that.

If anyone can help this muppet in need (Me!) I'd be most grateful

May just be the way the EPS was saved. I have Illustrator 10. PM me and I'll try to open it in that for you, if I can I'll send you an FLA back.

EPS can be either vector or raster.

yeah they got a trial version but you can't save or export with it, so wouldn't really gain anything from it in this case.

I was kinda hoping they'd do the fully functional for 30 day thing...or let you do everything excepty save your work...oh well.

Luckily PAlexC has very kindly exported the 5 files i needed into .swfs for me

u can save a photoshop (bitmap) as an eps with clipping path etc still wont be a small file to import into flash

also i was sent the investors in ppl logo as an eps, that also had a box round it, to get it right i un-grouped the selection, deleted the box and under it was the vector logo
