What? You don't like being woken up at 5AM by the sound of the big rigs firing up their Cummins monster diesels for another day on the open US highway?
Music to my ears, man, music.

If you're going to make fun of me, erova, could you please at least try to make it easy for me to get?

Question for everyone....
what is the best way to generate monthly income from your clients? and is anyone able to work for themselves and live comfortably or just the regular 9 to 5?

a) - support & site-maintenance
- continuous search engine work (?)
- marketing
b) Personally, I'm employed because I enjoy access to big-name clients + don't want the hassle of dealing with money/business development matters.

I'm not going to talk about prices because it's far too subjective and relative. There's a sticky thread here in the boardroom with more details on that.
By continuous search engine work I mean something along the lines of maintaining search engine placements, resubmitting the site periodically, checking server logs for referrer urls and updating the site to reflect the findings, etc.
Not that that's the kind of work I'd like to be doing

Just to get back to the whole creating client mockup thing-
I got a book on the web last year and it covers this sort of thing in great detail- it's called "designing websites that work- usability for the web" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...37702?v=glance
This is the bible for creating a process that works from concept right through to launch.
The first thing we do even before graphical mockups is get the client to work out a tree structure. From that we develop a 3 graphical concepts, taking navigation into consideration (should be pretty obvious how it works from the graphics) I stick these into a Flash movie and seperate the elements (button graphics etc) and stick them on one page- then the client can mix and match elements.
This lets them know that everything is flexible. If anyone want to see a sample mockup, just give me your email.
Then we develop an interactive mockup so the client can see how buttons will look when hovered over et.
Hope this is useful

done mystix, don't come here as often as I'd like to have time for!

I just wanted to post a public thank you to dpower. I took him up on his generous offer to email FKers an example of how he does his mockups. He not only emailed me an example of one of his mockups (which shows his work to be absolutely exemplary) but was also willing to take the time to answer some very rookie questions and offer very sensible, useful advice
Only someone who KNOWS how good his work is (and is therefore unconcerned about competition) would be willing to do something like this!
Thank you again dpower!
And thank you to all the FKers (past and present) who have so generously shared your knowledge with myself and others
