Alright! Ive only been to America once! . And that was fun - went skiing with my school to New Hampshire (With Asheep_UK). Visited Boston and New York along the way. Great stuff.

EDIT: Just remembered, the most confusing one must be calling your crisps, chips and calling your chips, fries.
I will always remember the look on the cashiers face at McDonalds in Times Square when I asked for a bag of chips
it's not so hard to learn the ways of another country if you're willing.

and I officially still hate crumpets.

The one word that always gets me is fanny. In the US it is another term for your rear-end, over here it is used to describe the front-end of a lady. It gets really funny in one Simpsons episode where Marge says "don't forget your fanny bags". We call them bum bags to be safe, but now that I think about it, it isn't that much better.

bum is funny to the american. we think of some unclean street person. not exactly a thought I'd like to attach to some attractive girl's butt.

bonnet for car hood. another term that's funny to an american.

there's more. fag instead of cigarette. but then again, we use the term cigarette butt. so, that means you're sticking butts into your mouth.

lift, flat, bloke, and many others have long been assimilated into the American English slang... well, those that have actually travelled to the UK at least - which would be an alarming percentage of my friends, myself inclusive.

now, the Canadians and aboot instead about. That one gets to me. Same with Zed instead of "Z"...
