    face symmetry = attractiveness?

    caught up in a weird conversation with a friend about all things, face symmetry, she brings up a good question...

    does face symmetry really equal beauty? and if so, why do people think that Shannan Doherty is beautiful?

    I mean... one of her eyes is way off center.

    It is a well documented fact that the human eye is drawn to symmetry (sp?)
    It was added to an old school phsyics book with about 5 or 6 different faces, one of which was a mirror of one side to the other, and about 87% of people choose the mirror image!

    Pretty interesting discussion.

    When I look at the people I like, 2 of the 3 people have symetrical faces. Weird.

    gerbs, that shot of Shannon Doherty makes her head seem tilted. That might be why it looks so much off-center.

    have you not ever noticed that about her before?

    i remember some symmetry studies from school. there seems to be a corelation with beauty/success, but it's about the same as for being tall/having all your teeth/or not being fat.

    my face is really crooked - and i landed a ballet dancer. go figure

    Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

    I have ALWAYS thought that she looks TERRIBLE becouse of her floating-away-eye. Very non-cosmic eye.
