    how do i make a button like this?

    i want to have an animation play when someone rolls over it, but stop like right inthe middle of the animation if they let their mouse off of it

    jsut set it up so its on rollover do this and on on rolloff stop or go back to beginning

    Create a movie and a button...

    create the movie... and copy the first frame of the movie into the UP state of the button... then copy the entire movie clip into the OVER state of the button...

    Usually I create a blank button... then I create a keyframe for the OVER state I drag and drop the movie clip ( add a stop action to the MC if it is not continuous )

    Then I copy and paste the first frame(s) of the movie into the UP state.

    Edit the x and y coords of both the UP and OVER state so that they match and you don't have funny looking movement when one rolls over the button...


    I'm going to be a button pro by my 50th post... I swear...

    good info and all, but how do i get it so i can see both the movie clip and the button?

    i hit an arrow resembling the back button and it took me back to seen one and i can't go back to my button or movie clip

    flash mx can always do weird things on yah... try naming the frames in the timeline and modifying the script for all of the instances.
