    Sandbox violation on fk?

One of our members just sent me a screen shot of a sandbox violation from the forums and the webtrends ad. Has anyone else experienced it or any others?

I'm talking to the ad dept, but wanna give them as much info as possible.

    TIA.

Stupid question, but can you explain "sandbox"

I'll look out for it, if I know what it is

it's a virtual safe area where applications (applets, directX controls etc) can run without being allowed free run of your computer. A violation means something is trying to do something beyond its scope in there.

Oh. So a sandbox violation is pretty bad, right?

No, not really. It just means that the swf is trying to load / send data from a different domain (i.e. ping an ad tracking site, load an xml file &c). The FK ads should be trustworthy and the flash player is blocking the data transfer anyways...

and you have the debug player installed so your getting an error...

Yeah, I get them now and then. Lots of ads on sites are doing that nowadays.

Not particularly happy with data being sent back to another domain. I don't come to FK to have their advertisers track info on me or my surfing habits.

Is this action being stopped when I get the warning? Or am I just being alerted to it?

Anyway to view the data it's trying to send?

Stopped. I'm not sure in which version of the player that cross domain security was implemented though. It's been around for a while.

    I'm using 6,0,79,0 Debug.

I'm gonna e-mail the people at webtrends and bug them about this, let them know I'm not particularly happy about them storing data about me without my permission.

Don't email them. Email the people who made the ad; ot tell starkey. WebTrends aren't doing anything wrong.
