Network Software
anyone know of some freeware/shareware software that will let me monitor the traffic on my network.. want to see what programs are running and opening ports and such. Thanks.

Ethereal is a damn good network analyzer, but it's hard core (it's used by professional network administrators). It mimics the tcpdump syntax, if you're a Unix person.
If you just want to know which program is opening which port, look for software called 'fport'. It's lighter, and it acts a lot like 'netstat'.
