    importing from photoshop without bg

    Ok,
I managed to get my picture without a bg by exporting as a png from photoshop. It looks good when the pic is stationary in flash, but the pic happens to be the hand of the compass, which is moving around. Unfortunately, as soon as the picture rotates around, all these jaggies appear around the edges. Is there anyway I can get around this?

fraid not. the anti aliasing engine in flash is not very good, and therefore has trouble when rotating bitmaps.
what i would do it create a vector version of the compass hand, as best you can, directly in flash. you'll find it rotates perfectly.

yea i already did that, but I'm trying to make it look a little bit more realistic, and all I can think of making it better is using a gradient overlay, but that doesnt really do the job. Any other suggestions?

you'll be surprised how realistic you can make vector art look.
    think detail DETAIL DETAIL!!!
zoom in and add pixels here and there, and alpha gradients.
it will take you a bit more time, but honestly you can get wicked results.

there is no other way of creating nicely rotating bitmaps.

Hmm, thats more assuring, can anyone explain a little more about making vector art more detailed? maybe any links to tutorials or anything? Thanks again
