    Digital Camcorder? what kind....

So i am in the market to buy a digital camcorder i kind of want to be loyal to sony or even panasonic i have had good results with both companies. so i just want to make some fun little video projects with friend or whatever nothing professional. how should i go about with all this do i go DV ooor what and i am looking for something that i can just just record what i want and then like transfer it all to my computer through firewire(but i hear USB 2 is almost as fast) and then edit it on a program on my puter to burn on like cd as vcd or whatever for friends... so

    1. what kind of camera? best feature and such(try to stay around or under $500 USD would be great)

    2. how to edit: firewire transfer etc..and what program is the best for what i might be doing editing wise?

    3. program and video format i should use to compress the video once i am done and to burn as a vcd or s-vcd(if there is really a big difference)

    4. well that is all i guess thanks in advacne for any and all suggestions.

    fine fine fine.

    stick with firewire, absolutely.

buy a six to four pin firewire cable and you'll be good.

and two tips: put tape over the record light and that the night vision sucks for amateur porn.

what kind? like brand? for five hundred bucks you're not exactly going top of the line, so just about anything, be it sony, canon, jvc or whatever, is going to be so stripped down any model will be just about comparably thin when it comes to options.

as for software and delivery i'm prolly not much help as i get to use FCP and iMovie with a dvd burner on my mac...
