Interesting how hard it is to tell them apart by looks.

(my Japanese is so bad at this point, I'm probably the last person you should try yours with...)
I think you meant 'ohaiyo' (pronounced 'Ohio') as in good morning? What you have there is pronounced 'oh-ha-yo', which has no meaning I'm aware of... also, why did you put one at the end?

Haha - my wife's family is Japanese - I can go and impress them with my new Japanese word.
Cool.

Sorry this is my first year of studying Japanese, I'm very bad at it.

Hey, don't sweat it, we all start somewhere... Just keep at it and you'll pick it up. Studying Japanese is a good excuse to watch a butt-load of Anime...
One of the hardest parts of learning a language is dealing with colloquial expressions; you can't just literally translate stuff because the phrase itself is non-sensical. 'Good one' has the meaning 'what you just said was good/funny', but only to someone who knows the expression. If you were to say 'good one' to a non-native English speaker, they'd probably do the same thing I did two posts up.
Anyhoo, I take things waaay to seriously. Keep at the studies and I guarantee you you'll be more fluent than me in a year (use it or lose it, as they say... I've been losing it for 3 years now...)
We now return you to your regularly sheduled thread...
