i think you're looking at the extreme saying that steve jobs and ted turner are a practical example that education isn't an indicator of potential for wealth.

i could also, with that logic, say that almost anyone who's 18 and almost 7 feet tall should be in the NBA because labron james did it.

it's probably safe to say that education and experience best prepares you go to go out on your own and develop and grow wealth...and that's if you don't want to go corporate, where options, bonuses, and performance increases are the norm.

now getting back to the question here, it sounds like based on the background SN4K3 provided us, it looks like you're still gonna be considered basically entry level when it comes to web design (obviously not IT).

You might have better luck making a lateral move into design once you've landed a technical job based on your military experience.

Of course they are extreme examples; that's why I used them. Nobody's ever heard of my great-aunt, who came over from Italy at age 16, was widowed at an early age with several kids in an era when a woman working outside the home was unheard of, and how she earned a fortune investing, so much so that her kids and grandkids are stinkin' rich from what she left them.

    That's just one "practical" example.

I don't quite see how you could logically conclude that. However, I'm not talking about what logically happens (i.e., being lazy and uneducated = greater potential for wealth). I'm talking about the facts -- that the vast majority of people who make $$$,$$$ do not get there by being educated in a technical skill and working hard as an employee.

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse. (I guess i feel like abusing a helpless animal today.) I'll shut up now.
