So Bush is asking for $87 Billion to re-build Iraq. Let me pose this question. If someone gave you the money instead, what would you do with $87 Billion dollars...?

Personally I think it's about time Bush put his campaign money towards rebuilding Iraq. I paid to destroy it, he can foot the bill to rebuild it.

I don't really know how he's arrived at the figure $87bn ???

I watched a documentary the other night about Hong Kong's new airport, the one on the island outside of Hong Kong and the reported cost of that was $22bn. For your $22bn you get a brand new state of the art airport with the largest undercover building/terminal anywhere in the world, dozens of hectares of land which was reclaimed from the sea to build on, a 12 mile road and rail network to connect said airport to the mainland, a 2km tunnel under Victoria Harbour and at a building time of just over 6 years.

Quite how it costs 4 times more to send troops to another country to "proctect" the people there is a mystery. I suspect in the grand calculation there will end up being a couple of billion going to Iraq, the rest will be sluiced off into a war fund for somewhere else.

on the 87 billion dollars its not just the cost of keeping troops over there its also ment to set up programs in iraq that will be directed towards stabilization and rebuilding of war torn iraq. Why they didnt just save money and nuke the place turn it into an ice skating ring puzzles me but oh well..
