    scotland terms?

well i hate to sound like a wannabe, but i find the scotish accent very interesting and well have taken up great interest in the way things are said

i was wondering if anyone here lived there and would mind sharing the major differences in the name of different items like say what they would call french fries, and so on.

anything at all would be most appreciated, or if anyone knows of a book or listing of terms and pronounciations

Like that found in a scene from Austin Powers 3 when him and his father are talking and they subtitle it.

You don't mean English at all, you mean cockney rhyming slang. "Now get your plates of meet up the apples and pairs, or you'll never get this lady gadiver."

    And Scottish

Google is an amazing search engine

i have lived in scotland for 10 years now and i still think it sucks, cant wait to get out.

dialect ehre is quite rough and not very pleasant sounding.

we just call french fries chips as does the rest of the uk. hm. we use words like neds for ppl who wear socks over tehir shrunken tracksuit bottoms who steal and try start fights with kids like me.

pure is like a superlative. ie.he was pure hot. = he was SO hot. and erm we use ken ie, ya ken = you know. and plenty otehrs. i dunno why your wanting to know mroe baout the language but search for glasgow neds on google and im sure youll get the jist of it :P

Guy Ritchie movies seem to be a good resource for cockney.

It still sounds more like English than what people from the deep south here in the US speak.

no offense, anyone from the deep south
